A joint operation between the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) has yielded a significant victory in the fight against insurgency.
Officials familiar with the operation indicate that they put out an ADF commander along with the outfit’s medic identified as Dr Musa.
Musa, a key figure within the ADF, was killed in action by a joint mobile squad force under the 83 battalion of the UPDF at Mugulumugulu near Tokomeka, 30km Northwest of Kainama.
The medic was working closely with notorious ADF commander Muhammad Luminsa.
During the operation, the joint forces recovered one sub-machine gun (SMG) and one radio (walkie-talkie), further crippling the ADF’s capabilities and communication channels.
This successful operation marks another milestone in the concerted efforts to dismantle the ADF network.
Recent Developments
The elimination of Dr. Musa follows closely on the heels of another significant victory, the killing of ADF commander ‘Baghdad’ in the areas of Ambusire, Ituri province, just days prior.
The coordinated efforts of the UPDF and FARDC demonstrate a relentless pursuit of ADF remnants and a commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
Despite these successes, the joint forces remain vigilant as they continue to track and neutralise other ADF members still at large.
The ADF’s increased use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) poses a threat, but the technical expertise of the joint forces’ explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams ensures effective handling of such dangers.
