Luwero District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has interdicted the Luwero town clerk Lydia Nabaasa.
The CAO, Asaba Birekeyaho says his actions are in response to a letter from the Inspector General of Government (IGG) dated April 17, 2024, requesting that he interdicts Nabaasa owing to ongoing investigations into her conduct.
Asaba further reasons that his action, is also in accordance with the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders.
In a letter dated April 26, 2024, Asaba informs Nabaasa that she is prohibited from executing her powers and functions as town clerk until further notice.
In the same letter, a copy obtained by this website, the Luwero town council Principal Township Officer is prohibited from leaving Uganda without express permission or authority from the CAO.
She is also forbidden from entering any of her office premises unless summoned by the investigation authority to reply to specific matters.
During the period of her interdiction, Nabaasa will be receiving half pay of her basic salary.
In the same letter, which was copied to the IGG, the PS Ministry of Local Government, and the area RDC, among others, Nabaasa was told to hand over all government property in her possession to the Senior Assistant Town Clerk.
