The Untold Story of Nalongo Maggie Kiweesi: From AK47’s Widow to Mukono Land Dispute

July 24, 2026

A radio journalist working with Hot FM in Amolatar, Uganda, is currently in police custody after being accused of defiling a 16-year-old student. The suspect, Alphonse Odur, 30, also known as Fege-Fege, is said to have committed the offence at his residence in Amolatar B cell.

According to reports, the alleged incident took place at the suspect’s home on April 11th, 2023. The victim, who is a student at Amolatar Secondary School, was reportedly lured to the journalist’s house by promises of help with her studies.

However, upon arrival, the suspect allegedly forced himself on her, leading to her subsequent report to local authorities.

The news of the alleged defilement has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for swift action against the suspect. The police have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.

The victim has also been taken for medical examination to determine the extent of any injuries and to provide evidence to support the case.

The management of Hot FM has released a statement condemning the alleged actions of their employee and assuring the public that they do not condone any form of sexual misconduct.

The statement also confirmed that the suspect has been suspended from his job pending the outcome of the investigations.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions and the need for swift and just action to protect victims of sexual abuse.

During the Easter period, the same individual who had previously attempted to have sex with a girl slipped into the school and tried again, but was caught red-handed by some students. However, he managed to escape.

The school administration was informed, and upon interviewing the victim, it was confirmed that she had engaged in sexual activity with the suspect multiple times.

As a result, the victim was suspended from school, and her parents were informed when she returned home. After learning the truth, the victim’s father reported the matter to the police station where a defilement case was registered.

The victim was examined and a statement was taken from her and her father. The suspect was arrested and detained at CPS Amolatar while further investigations were carried out.

Once the file is complete, it will be sent to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice before the suspect is brought to court.

Defilement

Defilement is a serious criminal offence in Uganda, defined under Section 129 of the Ugandan Penal Code Act. It refers to the act of having sexual intercourse with a person who is under the age of 18, regardless of whether or not they gave their consent.

The penalties for defilement in Uganda are severe, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. In cases where the victim is under the age of 14, the offender may face the death penalty upon conviction.

In addition to criminal sanctions, defilement cases in Uganda are also subject to civil penalties, with the offender being required to compensate the victim or their family for any physical, psychological, or emotional harm caused.

Despite the strict penalties for defilement, it remains a prevalent issue in Uganda, particularly in rural areas where poverty and low levels of education can exacerbate the problem.

Efforts to address defilement in Uganda include strengthening legal frameworks, providing support and resources for victims, and raising awareness about the issue in the wider community.
