Interdicted parliamentary officials.

Parliament has interdicted its Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Chris Obore, along with six other senior officials, in compliance with a directive issued by the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, as they face prosecution over alleged corruption-related offences.

The decision follows a directive from the Inspectorate of Government requiring the officials to step aside from their duties pending the determination of criminal proceedings before the Anti-Corruption Court.

Those interdicted include Daniel Adilo, the Director of Human Resource; Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, Principal Research Officer; Emmanuel Emuron Okwi, Principal Protocol Officer; Vincent Otebata, Capacity Development Officer; Leonard Okema, Executive Secretary in the Office of the Speaker; and Stella Itute, Office Supervisor in the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms.

Six of the officials have been on remand at Luzira Prison since July 1, 2026, after appearing before the Anti-Corruption Court. They face charges of embezzlement, money laundering and causing financial loss, offences under the Anti-Corruption Act.

Stella Itute, who was jointly charged alongside the other officials by the Inspectorate of Government, remains at large after a warrant of arrest was issued for her.

The Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled September 9, 2026, to deliver a consolidated ruling on the bail applications filed by the six officials currently on remand.

The interdictions mean the affected officials will remain out of office while investigations and court proceedings continue, in line with public service regulations intended to safeguard the integrity of ongoing investigations and prevent interference with witnesses or official processes.

The case is one of the most high-profile corruption prosecutions involving senior parliamentary staff in recent years and is expected to draw close public attention as the court process unfolds.
