Bukomansimbi is among the districts known for having devotees for the Democratic party in Greater Masaka Region.
However, with the recent disagreements between the two members of parliament in the area, the party has been torn into pieces which are beyond repair.
The two lions Veronica Nanyondo the Bukomansimbi District Woman MP and Bukomansimbi South MP Deogratius Kiyingi have for long been pointing fingers at each other accusing themselves of being moles.
As a result, both MPs organized parallel elections to form new District Executive Committee-DEC.
On July 19, a faction led by Nanyondo arranged elections under the supervision of Shafik Ddembe, the former DP acting organizing secretary where Nanyondo was also elected Women leader, Eva Birimukatonda Chairperson DP, and Fred Ssenkumba Deputy Chairperson among other.
Few days after another faction led by three National Executive Committee members; Sam Mali, Dick Lukyamuzi and Ssebaana Muyini organized elections at St Joseph SS Bukomansimbi before terming the first elected committee as illegal.
Kiyingi was elected district party chairperson, Joseph Muyanja Vice Chairperson, Isaac Lwanga secretary and Pamela Namuyanja women leader.
This did not go well with Nanyondo who believe Kiyingi is a mole since he the husband to the National Resistance Movement’s Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi who declared dislodge Nanyondo in the forthcoming elections.
Youths at the second venue of elections accused Nanyondo for going against the party and decided by following Robert Kyagulyanyi the principle director of people power group a move they said is deliberately putting down their party.
Dick Lukyamuzi, the NEC member in charge of Greater Masaka commits not to allow Nanyondo to participate in DP primaries. Currently Pamela Namuyanja is also eyeing for the party’s flag in the forthcoming elections
“Namuyanja has been loyal to DP and she was never seen with any people power gang, this means she is the only person we can now trust on the position of woman MP” Lukyamuzi says.
Also Kiyingi insists that before Nanyondo came, the party was united until she started started misleading people with people power pressure groups.
“As the elected DP chairperson, I am going to form a disciplinary committee which will be available to punish all those who went against the party and we shall not allow destruction of our party in the district,” Kiyingi noted after his election into office.
Meanwhile, Nanyondo says already received the party road map and preparing to carry the party flag.
She also insists that Kiyingi group is fueling DP factions with a hidden agenda of promoting his wife.
