A 30-year-old woman in Mubende District was brutally killed by her husband following a domestic disagreement in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Annet Turyahabwe, a resident of Kazo Village in Kasaana Parish, Kibalinga Sub-county, was allegedly attacked and killed by her husband, AmbroseTuryasingura, inside their workers’ quarters.
According to police, the couple had been working as casual labourers at the home of Turyatemba Hassan, where they were also residing.
Preliminary investigations indicate that at around 1:30 a.m. on May 17, 2026, the suspect reportedly demanded intimacy from his wife, but she declined, saying she was tired after a long day’s work. This reportedly triggered a heated argument during which the suspect accused the woman of infidelity.
In a fit of rage, Ambrose allegedly picked up a panga and repeatedly cut his wife on the head and neck, killing her instantly.
The couple’s daughter, Ainembabazi Vastina, reportedly heard her mother screaming for help and rushed to alert their employer. Turyatemba Hassan quickly responded and rushed to the workers’ quarters, only to find the woman lying dead in a pool of blood.
He immediately informed local leaders and neighbours, who helped subdue and arrest the suspect before handing him over to police at Kibalinga Police Station.
Police later dispatched a homicide team from Mubende to process the crime scene. Officers documented the scene and recovered a blood-stained panga believed to have been used in the killing.
Witness statements were recorded, while the deceased’s body was taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations into the murder continue.
The incident was confirmed by Wamala Regional Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi.
