Francis Zaake, one of the youngest legislators in the Ugandan Parliament revealed declining inclusion in his father’s will as a successor.
The legislator representing Mityana Municipality revealed while presiding over the launch of youth council campaigns at Mukono District National Unity Platform (NUP) offices.
Zaake noted finding no value in having attachment to his father’s will yet he can die before him due to his commitment to the political struggle.
He further noted that security operatives are determined to brutally confront NUP foot soldiers and other key frontliners in the struggle for power change.
“Anytime I am ready to die, the level at which I have been beaten is an indicator that I will die before many people, but I am ready to die fighting for change.” Zaake noted.
He added, “Luckly, I have not yet died but these people have given me serious beatings!”
Zaake, who is also the Parliamentary Caucus Youths Chairperson said NUP will continue organizing several meetings in different districts to encourage youths to participate in elections.
According to the Electoral Commission Road Map, nomination of village SIGs Committees Candidates which includes older persons, persons with disabilities and youths will take place in June this year.
Betty Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament noted that it is everyone’s role to support youths within NUP to take majority slots at every village to the top levels.
The country has 70, 000 villages. Nambooze says they are aiming at securing win at 63, 000 villages.
“Youths, avoid negotiating alliances with people from the ruling government, distance yourselves from bribes, as you have advised us not to accept the 100 million bribe, also you stay away from the 20, 000 shillings.” Nambooze noted.
Robert Maseruka, the Former Makerere University Guild President, and now a potential candidate at Mukono South Constituency reminded the youths that Museveni took over power in 1986 and it is now 2026, a similar restructuring to have Kyagulanyi in power.
