The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced that it has begun consultations with relevant government stakeholders following the temporary interruption of broadcasting services by Nation Media Group (NMG) outlets.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the communications regulator said it had taken note of the circumstances surrounding the suspension of broadcasts by NMG-owned media platforms, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM and KFM.

“The Uganda Communications Commission has noted the circumstances that have led to the Nation Media Group’s outlets, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, and KFM, going off air,” the statement reads.

UCC said it had initiated consultations with the relevant government stakeholders to establish the facts surrounding the incident before issuing a comprehensive update.

“Consultations have begun with the relevant government stakeholders to obtain verified information. The Commission urges the public to remain calm and allow these consultations to proceed. We will provide further updates as appropriate once the consultations conclude,” the regulator said.

UCC also reiterated its appeal for calm, saying it had noted the circumstances surrounding the temporary interruption of broadcasting services by Nation Media Group outlets.

“We urge the public to remain calm as these engagements continue. Further updates will be communicated through UCC’s official channels as appropriate,” the Commission posted.

The statement comes hours after Nation Media Group’s television and radio stations were taken off air amid an ongoing security operation, with the interruption affecting viewers and listeners across the country.

UCC did not disclose the cause of the outage or indicate when the affected stations would resume normal broadcasting, saying consultations with the relevant stakeholders were still underway.
