A total of ten candidates have been duly nominated to contest for the three parliamentary seats in Masaka City ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The positions include representatives for the two city divisions — Nyendo-Mukungwe and Kimaanya-Kabonera — as well as the Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament.

In Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, the race has attracted three contenders: Gyaviira Lubowa Ssebina of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Racheal Nakitende representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and Democratic Front’s Mathias Mpuuga.

For Kimaanya-Kabonera Division, the Electoral Commission confirmed the nomination of Patrick Kuteesa (NUP), Robert Asiimwe (NRM), and Dr. Abed Bwanika (DF).

Meanwhile, four women will battle for the position of Masaka City Woman MP. They include Rose Nalubowa (NUP), independent candidate Sauya Nanyonga, Juliet Kakande Nakabuye (DF), and Justine Nameere (NRM).

The nominations mark the beginning of a heated campaign season in Masaka City as candidates gear up to win over voters in the forthcoming elections.
