President Museveni Grants Official Burial to Gen. Moses Ali

KAMPALA — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has granted an official burial to the late Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County in Adjumani District and former Second Deputy Prime Minister.

The announcement was made on Saturday by the Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, who described the late statesman as a distinguished patriot whose decades of public service left a lasting mark on Uganda.

In a statement, Babalanda said the President had directed that the veteran politician be accorded an official burial in recognition of his contribution to the country.

“The President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has granted an official burial to the fallen Member of Parliament for East Moyo County, Adjumani District, Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Moses Ali, a distinguished patriot, elder statesman and former Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda,” she said.

She revealed that the National Organising Committee (NOC) had already begun meeting with the family to coordinate burial arrangements and ensure the late leader receives a dignified send-off.

Babalanda also conveyed condolences to President Museveni, the bereaved family, the people of Adjumani District, government colleagues and all Ugandans mourning the passing of the veteran leader.

She prayed for the late Ali’s soul, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give strength and comfort to his family during the mourning period.

Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali was one of Uganda’s longest-serving public servants, holding several senior positions in government over the years. He served as Member of Parliament for East Moyo County, Minister in different portfolios and Second Deputy Prime Minister, earning recognition for his role in national leadership, peacebuilding and public service.

The National Organising Committee is expected to announce the official burial programme after completing consultations with the family.
