Police in Luwero District have launched a manhunt for unidentified assailants who allegedly attacked and killed a 63-year-old man in his home in what is being investigated as a suspected murder case.

The deceased has been identified as Nsubuga Christopher, a resident of Kikubajinja Village in Luwero Town Council. He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning at Luwero Hospital, hours after the brutal attack.

According to police, the incident occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026, at around 9:00 pm, when unknown assailants reportedly stormed Nsubuga’s home and struck him on the head before fleeing.

He was rushed to Luwero Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Territorial Police in Luwero registered a case of suspected murder and immediately deployed a team comprising homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO). The officers visited both the crime scene at the deceased’s home and the hospital where he was treated.

Police canine units were also deployed to assist in tracking possible leads, while investigators documented the scenes, recorded witness statements, and collected blood samples for forensic analysis. A postmortem examination (Form 48B) has since been conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Preliminary findings indicate that the body had sustained two deep cuts in addition to the fatal head injury. Investigators are also examining reports that the deceased had been experiencing domestic misunderstandings with some family members and had been living alone at the time of the attack.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, although police have not ruled out any possible leads, including the reported domestic disputes.

The Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Sam Twiineamazima, confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that efforts to apprehend the suspects are in high gear.

“Efforts to apprehend and prosecute those responsible are progressing. Further inquiries are still ongoing, and we urge anyone with information to come forward and assist police,” ASP Twiineamazima said.

Residents of Kikubajinja Village described the deceased as a quiet and reserved elderly man who had lived in the area for many years.

“He was living alone. We never expected something like this to happen here,” a neighbor said on condition of anonymity.

Police have appealed for public cooperation, urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in Kikubajinja Village on the night of June 8 to report to the nearest police station or contact the Savannah Regional Police hotline.

Investigations are ongoing.
