The Kampala Metropolitan Police have intensified operations across several divisions, leading to the arrest of more than 200 suspects in a two-day crackdown targeting criminal hideouts and drug abusers.
According to police, the coordinated operations were conducted between November 4 and 5, 2025, focusing on both urban and peri-urban areas where criminal activities have been on the rise.
In Kajjansi Division, police operations in areas such as Lweza B, Kulyamuli, Alright, and Kawotto led to the arrest of 44 suspects accused of smoking marijuana, theft, and other criminal acts.
In Old Kampala Division, at least 60 suspects were arrested from Namungoona, Nakulabye, around the New Taxi Park, and Mukwano areas. The suspects were reportedly found in possession of breaking implements and are accused of attempting to commit felonies.
In Kira Division, the joint security team conducted operations in Nsasa and Bulindo, where eight suspects were arrested with exhibits of suspected narcotic substances.
Meanwhile, in Matugga Division, several individuals were apprehended along the Matugga–Gulu Highway, as well as in Gombe and Lwadda, over phone and bag snatching incidents and drug abuse.

In Kabalagala Division, 45 suspects were rounded up from Nsambya, Kamwanyi, and Katana over alleged involvement in drug abuse and street smuggling.
Police in Mukono District also intensified efforts across Goma and Central Divisions. The operations led to the arrest of: Nine suspects in Katwe–Bukerere, eight suspects at Namanve Industrial Park, and thirty suspects from Kitega, Wantoni, Benghazi, and Kikooza.
In total, 204 suspects were arrested during the Kampala Metropolitan-wide operations. Police say all suspects are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be arraigned before the courts of law.
Security officials emphasized that such operations will continue as part of efforts to curb urban crime, drug abuse, and other unlawful activities across the metropolitan area.
