Robert Ssesaazi, a well-known Kampala businessman and director of Trinity Love School in Nyanama, has spoken out to clear the air surrounding the tragic death of his 16-year-old son, Elishama Ssesaazi.
The Seeta High School student was found dead in the early hours of the morning, allegedly having hung himself with a mosquito net.
His body was discovered by fellow students who had woken up for their early morning revisions around 3 am.
Since the incident, speculation has run rampant, particularly online and social gatherings in Mukono.
Several blogs have suggested that Elishama’s death was a result of a suicide triggered by his father’s refusal to grant him UGX 2 million he had requested.
However, Ssesaazi, during the burial ceremony at Sagala Kyotera, strongly denied these claims, describing his son as a young man who preferred saving his money rather than living extravagantly.
“My son was a saver. If I gave him UGX100,000 for pocket money, he would return with just UGX70,000 at the end of the term. I was always proud of his saving culture,” Ssesaazi said, addressing mourners at the funeral.
While the school has yet to issue a public statement regarding the death, sources reveal that the young student did not leave behind a suicide note, casting further doubt on the online rumors.
The family and school remain tight-lipped as police continue their investigation into the cause of death.
In a statement released by the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire assured the public that the authorities are actively looking into the incident.
“At this stage, the motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to gather more details surrounding the incident,” Owoyesigyire said.
He further urged students, parents, and the public to remain calm as the police conduct thorough investigations into this matter.
“More details will be communicated as the investigation progresses,” he said.
The tragedy has left many in the community, including online commentators, puzzled and seeking answers.
Several opinions have surfaced online, with some questioning the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, while others are expressing their condolences for the family.
As investigations continue, the mystery of what really happened to Elishama Ssesaazi remains unsolved, leaving a grieving family, a confused school community, and a public desperate for clarity.
An inside source revealed that the school had intended to keep the information under wraps, treating it as a top-secret matter and never wanting it to leak to the media.
It has been further revealed that students are deeply traumatized by the incident and now fear the dormitory where the tragedy occurred.
Still, the emotional impact of the alleged suicide has created anxiety, with many students struggling to cope with the unsettling event.
Journalists in Mukono who broke the story are now facing intimidation from the school administrators, who argue that the report has damaged their reputation and caused parents to worry about the safety of their children.
