The Mukono municipality member of parliament Betty Nambooze castigated National Unity Platform (NUP) officials for tearing up her political camp ahead of general campaigns.
Mukono NUP branch has been experiencing conflicts manifesting from the old disagreements among members from people power pressure group, good and bad democratic party.
The persistent disagreement prolonged final declaration of party flag bearers and nomination of confirmed candidates by the electoral commission.
Since the vetting process of the party flag bearers in Mukono municipality begun, Nambooze has had restless night ensuring that all candidates subscribing her camp go through.
Her efforts were a success, however, the Kamwokya based electoral management committee instead started disqualifying some of the members subscribing to Nambooze camp.
Among them is Ronald Kisawuzi her own son who was competing for the position of Ntaawo ward at the municipality and Erisa Nkoyoyo whose results were turned down in favour of Daniel Lugoloobi for the position of the mayoral race.
According to the secretive meetings Nambooze held on Monday and Wednesday with the faction members, she vowed not to accept lose any of them since it was an agreement with Robert Kyagulanyi before she accepted to join NUP.
“My plan was winning for this party; it was a hard decision I took to join NUP but unfortunately some party members are fighting us instead of being supportive. When DP denied me the party card, I would still win as an independent candidate. It is not any party that makes me win but me to support them.” She noted in the Monday meeting.
The Insight Post has learnt that all members in Nambooze’s camp who succeeded in the party vetting process have been ordered not to attend the general nominations until all the members she crossed with to NUP are accepted.
The national party electoral management committee cancelled results from six electoral areas within Mukono municipality citing irregularities in in the vetting process done at the municipal party offices.
It has now resolved that the vetting process be repeated however, ant-Nambooze contenders are demanding the vetting process to be done at the head offices or they straight away declare their next move.
