A man has been charged with criminal trespass and malicious damage to property in connection with a land dispute in Misindye Village, Goma Sub County, Mukono District.
Kaye Andrew Kaggwa appeared before the Goma Grade One Magistrates Court, where he was charged and remanded until November 17, 2026.
The prosecution alleges that between October 7 and 9, 2026, Kaggwa unlawfully entered land comprised in Kyagwe Block 101, Plot 51, which was in the possession of Justice Andrew Khaukha, with the intention of annoying him.
He is also accused of wilfully and unlawfully destroying two padlocks on October 8, 2026, on a residential house belonging to Nakawungu Janat, a 99-year-old woman who occupies part of the disputed land.
The case was investigated by the Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to the investigation findings, Justice Khaukha purchased five acres of land in 2004 from Nakawungu Janat and Nakawunde Norah, who had inherited six acres from their father, the late Bulasio Ddamba.
The two women reportedly retained one acre containing the burial grounds of Ddamba, his wife and Norah Nakawunde.
Norah has since died, while Janat, now 99 years old and reportedly frail, remains alive.
Investigators allege that some of Ddamba’s grandchildren and great grandchildren through his son, Yusuf Kaye, have over the years disputed or interfered with Khaukha’s possession of the land.
Those mentioned include Nakanyike Margaret, Andrew Kaye and Aisha Nakawunde. The investigation findings indicate that they have allegedly raised complaints against Khaukha before various offices and published statements about him on social media.
The allegations against Kaggwa are yet to be proved in court.
