Kyotera
Mostly independents and National Resistance Movement candidates have won the Local Council Elections for town councils and sub-county chairpersons in Kyotera District.
In Kyotera Town Council chairperson race, Fred Bunya Muzito, an Independent scored 2450 votes, while his opponent Moses Ssekalo (NUP) scored 2287 and NRM’s Said Kintu (NRM) only 21 votes.
Another independent candidate Jerasome Kasiita won the Kasaali Town Council chairperson race after scoring 1713 votes. His opponent Godfrey Kimera (DP) scored 1972 while Zaituuni Ssegiriinya of NRM got 158 votes.
Richard Sande Ntambaazi (NRM) retained his seat as Kalisizo Town Council Chairperson after scoring 1775 votes. In a highly contested race, his opponent Godfrey Ssasa (NUP) scored1684 which left his supporters and party members complaining.
Others candidates in the race included Hassan Lubega (IND) who scored 49 votes, John Bosco Kyeyune (DP) 40 and Abasi Sseruwu (IND) 28.
In the new Mutukula Town Council, the most competitive contest was betweenDavid Mujaasi (NRM) and Martin Katongole (NUP). Mujaasi scored 1964 votes and Katongole 1137.
In the meantime, results from Kasensero Town council have not been declared.
Koreb Nahamya, the District Returning officer, appealed to all candidates with queries to petition the Electoral Commission and Court for redress.
However, in the sub-county chairperson race, Democratic Party’s
Bukenya Emanuel won the Kalisizo Rural LCIII Chairperson after scoring1805 votes. NRM’s Patrick Kabuye scored 1897 and Moses
Lusembo (NUP) got 252 votes.
NUP’s Francis Kizza was voted the Kyebe sub-county chairperson after scoring 1602 votes. NRM’s Moses Sserunjogi (NRM) scored 956 and Robert Kayovu Bulasiyo (IND) 602.
