The suspect, identified as Herman Jjino, a resident of Katovu Central in Katovu Town Council and head teacher of Miracle Infant Junior School, is currently in custody as investigations continue.

According to preliminary police findings, the alleged offences occurred between March and April 2026. The suspect is accused of defiling two girls aged 10 and 14, and sexually assaulting four boys aged 8, 10, 12 and 13.

Southern Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect has since led investigators to his residence and several locations within the school premises where the alleged incidents are believed to have taken place.

Kasirye said police have collected key evidence to support the case and pledged that justice will be pursued for the victims.

“We strongly condemn such acts against children. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be taken to court to answer the charges,” he said.

The case has drawn concern from parents and community members, with calls for swift prosecution and stronger safeguards in schools to protect children from abuse.

Authorities have urged anyone with additional information or victims who have not yet come forward to report to the nearest police station, assuring them of protection and confidentiality.
