As the country continues to pursue progress, the involvement of faith leaders in national development becomes increasingly crucial.

On September 5, 2024, over 1,000 pastors will convene at the Lebanon Christian Cathedral in Mukono to discuss pressing development issues that impact Pentecostal church leaders and their congregations across Uganda.

This one-day retreat, organized by the Love, Peace, and Unity Pastors’ Destiny Forum, aims to provide pastors with vital information about accessing government development programs.

The gathering is expected to foster a deeper understanding among church leaders, empowering them to guide their followers in leveraging these opportunities for the betterment of their communities.

The retreat primarily targets church leaders from the Greater Mukono districts.

Pastor Samuel Lwandasa, the Forum Overseer, explains that the event will help government officials understand the challenges pastors face in participating in government programs.

“During this gathering, pastors will share ideas on the new challenges churches are encountering and explore opportunities for wealth creation both within Uganda and beyond,” says Pastor Lwandasa.

Forum Chairperson Stephen Ssemusu expects the church to grow economically through the valuable knowledge shared by expert facilitators.

“Church leaders will receive important information about government programs that can benefit Pentecostal congregations. We’ve invited key government representatives to provide this information,” Pastor Ssemusu shares.

He also notes that many pastors are involved in agriculture and business but lack essential information on how to expand these ventures.

“We will also raise awareness about current security threats in the country and enhance leadership skills among church leaders, focusing on managing families, children, and the church in today’s world,” he noted.

The Chief Guest, Col Edith Nakalema, praised the organizers for the initiative, stating that the retreat will significantly improve the livelihoods of pastors and their communities.
