The Uganda Police Force has declined to comment on the status of the 20 million shilling bounty it offered for information leading to the capture of Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the main suspect in the murder of Engineer Daniel Bbosa, leader of the Ndiga clan.
Lujja Bbosa Tabula, who had been on the run for eight months, was finally apprehended by Crime Intelligence officers at his hideout in Kimelika-Bamulonge, Busikuma.
His capture followed the confession of Noah Lujja, one of the hired gunmen, who implicated Tabula in the murder of Engineer Daniel Bbosa, citing a dispute over clan leadership.
The police had been tracking Tabula for months without success, which prompted a 10-million-shilling bounty that was later increased to 20 million by the Criminal Investigations Division (CID).
According to information from security sources, his eventual capture was facilitated by an old friend from Busikuma, who reportedly informed the police after Tabula sought financial help.
The tip enabled crime intelligence to raid the location and arrest Tabula.
During a press briefing at Naguru Police Headquarters, Assistant Commissioner of Police Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson, remained noncommittal when asked if the police had honored its pledge.
In a sworn statement before a magistrate last week, Lujja Tabula, who has been remanded to Luzira, admitted to orchestrating the killing of clan leader Engineer Daniel Bbosa.
He attributed his actions to three main reasons, including avenging his father’s death, allegedly at the hands of Bbosa’s family in 1989, for which he felt justice had not been served.
