By Prossy Nalugo || Lugazi Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza urged students of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Naggalama to implement classroom practical lessons in their daily life.
Bishop Kakooza noted on Saturday that failure for the students to implement what they study in day today life, is an indicator of failure to understand what they are taught in class.
“What you study is what is called practical, but after studying it you don’t practice anything. You can’t even fix a bulb; you call a man to fix a bulb for you. …so make sure that whatever you get at school should be practiced, music, dance, drama, science…” Bishop noted.
On Saturday, St. Joseph SS celebrated the feast day of their school patron saint [St. Joseph] as well as 55 years of existence.
The School Headmistress, Agnes Nsubuga is grateful to the school board of governors chaired by MSGR. Dr. Richard Kayondo for the proper planning and financial support enabling the school to excel.
Despite the covid-19 pandemic effects, the school managed to admit new students in senior one and five, complete the main swimming pool, retain a full competent staff, re-register with the ministry of education as well as conducting on-line zoom lessons for all classes during the recess period.
St. Joseph, Naggalama now ranks among the top five performing giants in the country. In 2020, out of the 195 students that sat for Uganda Certificate of Education, 194 scored first grades.
For Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, the school presented 167 students of which 98 percent obtained requisite principal passes for university entry. 37 students managed to join public universities on merit.
