Police in Hoima City are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Andrew Kyalisiima, a 30-year-old aspirant for the Western Ward councillor seat in Hoima West Division on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.
Kyalisiima’s body was discovered on Thursday morning inside his home in Kiryatete West Cell, a suburb of Hoima City. He had reportedly gone missing for two days before concerned residents alerted local leaders.
Godfrey Mucwa, the area Local Council One Secretary for Defence, said Kyalisiima, who lived alone, had not been seen in the neighborhood for two days. This raised suspicion among residents, prompting them to act.
“After not seeing him around, we began to worry. Together with other local leaders, we decided to break into his house, and that is when we found his lifeless body,” Mucwa said.
Another resident, Moris Mwebaza, noted that it was unusual for Kyalisiima to be out of sight for so long, especially with his door locked from inside. “He was always visible in the community. When he disappeared for two days, we knew something was wrong,” Mwebaza said.
Police were immediately notified and responded to the scene to begin investigations.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that there were no visible injuries on the body at the time of recovery. He said a postmortem examination would help determine the exact cause of death.
Kyalisiima’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through the community and among political leaders in the area. Authorities have called for calm as investigations continue.
