Police in Nabweru-Wakiso District have arrested a woman suspected of killing her 75-year-old husband by tying him up, placing him in a sack, and setting him on fire using petrol and old tyres.

The incident occurred on Sunday night in Nansana Municipality.

According to neighbors, the victim, James Wani, was weak and sickly at the time of the incident.

His wife, Nanziri, reportedly told friends and neighbors that Wani had been hospitalized due to a bad condition, but the truth was revealed when one of Wani’s children informed a neighbor about the murder.

Residents are attributing the murder to domestic violence, citing previous disagreements between the couple.

The victim had reportedly sought help from local authorities and planned to separate from his wife.

The community is calling for increased sensitization campaigns against domestic violence, shocked by the rising number of cases that end in death.

Nanziri is currently being held at Katoke Police Station.
