The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Mrs. Monica Nabukeera Kibalama, wife of missing citizen Johnbosco Kibalama.
Kibalama was reportedly abducted on June 3, 2019, and has not been seen since. His wife, Monica, had spent years moving between government offices and human rights organisations seeking answers and justice for her husband.
According to family members, Monica was found dead in her bathroom under unclear circumstances. The exact cause of her death is yet to be established.
Rubongoya described the news as heartbreaking, noting that Monica died without receiving answers about her husband’s disappearance. He expressed sympathy for the young children she leaves behind.
“It is very sad and painful. What a pity for those little children,” he said.
Human rights advocates and friends have also condoled with the family, calling for renewed efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the disappearance of Johnbosco Kibalama and the sudden death of Monica Nabukeera.
