A distiller of waragi in Rwampara District has died after a drum she was using to distil burst up in flames.
The deceased has been identified as Allen Tusehmereirwe, a resident of Rurama Cell, Bugamba Sub County.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson says that the deceased and her husband Orikimanya Nelson were on Thursday distilling waragi in a swamp when the drum developed a leakage because it was not sealed well during the distilling process.
According to Kasasira, the drum exploded, blowing off the cover and hitting her back.
Karyango Mirembe Yosam the Chairperson of Rurama Cell, says the drum hit the deceased at a distance of 15 meters and almost shattered her head.
Orikimanya, says that they have been using the distilling drum for the last three years.
