Police in Nakaseke District have initiated an investigation into the murder of a woman allegedly committed by Lieutenant Corporal Denis Sserunkuuma from Kaweweta Basic Military Training School.
The soldier is accused of killing his wife, Kella Kebirungi Adyeri at approximately 3 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Military Training School.
According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police publicist, the case was reported to Kinyogoga Police Station at 6 PM.
Preliminary information suggests that the suspect and the deceased were married and living together at the Kaweweta Army Barracks.
Reports indicate the couple had been arguing throughout the day, with the dispute escalating by the afternoon.
Eyewitnesses told police that the argument started after the deceased refused to prepare food at home.
Around 3 PM, the deceased reportedly fled their grass-thatched house in panic, pursued by the suspect, who was armed with a Sub-Machine Gun (SMG).
Twiineamazima states that the suspect then shot the victim in the head, killing her instantly.
After the shooting, the suspect allegedly attempted suicide by turning the gun on himself, but he only shot himself in the chin and did not die.
Police responded quickly to the scene and documented the incident. Two cases have been registered: murder by shooting and attempted suicide.
The suspect was taken to Kaweweta Military Health Center IV for treatment, while the body of the deceased was transported to Bombo Military Hospital in Luwero District for an autopsy.
