President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church’s Busoga Field for its significant contribution to spiritual growth, education, healthcare and community transformation, describing the church as a key partner in Uganda’s development agenda.
The President’s message was delivered by the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, during the installation of Bishop Pastor Jimmy Kajura as the new Bishop of the Busoga SDA Field.
In his message, President Museveni said the installation represented more than a leadership transition.
“This installation marks more than a change of leadership. It marks a new chapter in the spiritual and administrative journey of the Busoga Adventist Field,” the President said.
He described the appointment as a reminder that God continues to call men and women into leadership at all levels.
“We receive Bishop Pastor Jimmy Kajura with humility and confidence as he begins his service in the Busoga Seventh-day Adventist Field,” the message read.
President Museveni praised the SDA Church in Busoga for strengthening the work of God while promoting community transformation through its commitment to unity, patriotism and Christian values.
He noted that the church’s dedication to faith, discipline, education, health and community service has made Adventist institutions visible and impactful across the region.
“A community that prays together can also work together to fight poverty and overcome other social challenges. We all know that unity is strength,” the President said, urging church members to use the occasion as a moment of renewal and work closely with their new bishop to advance the gospel.
Quoting John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly,” President Museveni challenged Christians to reject anything that hinders spiritual growth and personal transformation.
He also called on believers to actively participate in government wealth creation initiatives, including Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and parish-based agricultural programmes.
“The NRM leadership has already established systems for wealth creation in many ways, and we must all be active participants,” he said.
He added that Busoga is richly endowed with natural resources and encouraged residents to utilise them to achieve self-reliance and sustainable economic development.
“God has blessed Busoga with resources, and I urge you to harness them to promote self-reliance and the socio-economic transformation of all Ugandans,” he said.
Addressing the newly installed bishop, President Museveni encouraged Bishop Kajura to lead with integrity, wisdom and compassion.
“Lead with the word of God as your compass and shepherd God’s people with wisdom and compassion. I also encourage you to mobilise resources through your network of friends, development partners and well-wishers to advance the work of the church and build a lasting legacy,” he said.
The President further called for greater unity and determination in advancing Africa’s development.
“We are saying, ‘No more sleep’ until we see the entire African race united in values, secure and economically prosperous. I congratulate you once again and wish you fruitful and peaceful leadership during your tenure in the Busoga Field,” he said.
The installation ceremony was attended by Archbishop Samuel Kajoba, government officials, community leaders, SDA Church leaders and hundreds of faithful from across the Busoga region.
