Police in Kayunga tracked and apprehended three people for allegedly charging and administering fake Covid-19 doses to residents and pupils.
The arrested include Anna Tumal who works with Jonathan Medical Center Rose Nakanyike, a teacher at Bright light primary school, Kisoga Town Council in Mukono district and Edward Ssemwogerere also a teacher and owner of the same school.
According to Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, the suspects were tracked from Kayunga where they have for days been charging residents Shillings 3, 000 each before administering the vaccines.
“We managed to get them carrying on the exercise at Bright Light School were 17 residents and 5 pupils had been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine. They have been returned to Kayunga district police station to support investigations.” Butoto says adding that after investigations they shall be arraigned before court.
Ssemwogerere, the school director opened up to police receiving the vaccines through her daughter, Zula Namubiru who works at Namagunga Health Centre III in Buikwe district.
Butoto says the suspects have been found with Shillings 39, 300 collected from vaccinated residents. She also notes that 138 doses of Pfizer and one doze sinopharm has been recovered.
The recovered doses expired on February, 28, this year hence being poisonous in case they administered to people.
