President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has received a series of high-level visitors at State House Entebbe ahead of the official swearing-in ceremony scheduled for tomorrow.
Among the dignitaries welcomed was the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, who arrived with a delegation for the ceremony.
President Museveni expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a continuation of the long-standing brotherly relations between Uganda and South Sudan.
“I have received my brother, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, at State House Entebbe together with his delegation, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow,” Museveni said in a statement posted on his X account. “I warmly welcome him and wish him a fruitful stay as we continue to strengthen the historic brotherly ties and cooperation between our two countries.”
State House Entebbe, the official presidential residence and diplomatic reception center, has been at the center of intensified diplomatic activity as Uganda prepares for the high-profile national event.
State House Entebbe has also hosted Mr. Nick Checker, Senior Bureau Official in the United States Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, who is attending the ceremony as a representative of U.S. President Donald Trump alongside his delegation.
Museveni noted the importance of continued cooperation with international partners while using the engagement to reiterate his economic message on Africa’s development path. He emphasized the urgent need for value addition and industrialisation across the continent.
“We cannot continue exporting raw materials such as coffee, oil and minerals without processing them,” he said. “Value addition is crucial for expanding Africa’s GDP, creating jobs and increasing the purchasing power of our people.”
The President welcomed the U.S. delegation and wished them a productive stay in Uganda, as the country positions itself for both diplomatic visibility and renewed discussions on economic transformation during the swearing-in events.
