The Kamuswaga of Kooki cultural institution Apollo Ssansa Kabumbuli II on Wednesday launched the first territorial television station.
The television dubbed ‘Gunula’(See) television excited residents and leaders within the area. The studios are headquartered at Rakai town council.
The initiative launch was the major event that marked the Kamuswaga’s 20th coronation held at Ddwaniro Village in Ddwaniro Sub County, Rakai District. It was celebrated under the theme “Plant a Tree to Preserve the Environment”
Kamuswaga noted that television is intended to promote the institution’s activities and sensitize the masses to various programs.
“Gone are the days when other people documented our history, ruled us, and took over crucial offices especially in the public sector due to our illiteracy. Even, in the media sector alone, we have enough trained personnel,” he said.
The State Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Balaam Atenyi Barugahara represented President Yoweri Museveni on Kamuswaga’s coronation anniversary.
He urged the Bakooki to love and serve their Kamuswaga wholeheartedly since leaders help the government fulfill development programs.
“If you love the Kamuswaga, your standards of living will improve gradually because he is a well-established leader who also loves to see his people grow and live happily. He has created jobs for you and I’m sure he has a big percentage of workers who gain from his investments”, he said.
The Kamuswaga decorated over ten people he says have been instrumental in his last two decades of service.
