A Special Forces Command (SFC) officer, Lt. Samson Amo, and 12 other soldiers have been charged with aggravated robbery and assault after allegedly raiding Lubowa Police Station.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, leaving several police officers and civilians injured.
According to police reports, Lt. Amo led the group of soldiers to the station, where they beat up officers and civilians, and stole phones and other belongings.
The soldiers also allegedly assaulted eight suspects who had been brought to the station, with six of them being hospitalized.
The police have opened a case against Lt. Amo and the soldiers, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Kampala South Regional Police Commander has reinforced the Lubowa police station with additional officers.
The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of UPDF soldiers, and the army’s response to the allegations is awaited.
This is not the first time UPDF soldiers have been involved in a similar incident, with a similar case occurring at Lumuli Police Station two years ago.
