The head political mobilisations and strategies at the National Unity Platform (NUP), Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu is considering breaking up with his son for accepting to take pictures with President Yoweri Museveni.
Nyanzi’s son, James Churchill Ssentamu who is the current Guild President of Makerere University made rounds on social media posing with Museveni who had visited the institution to honour the research and innovation week.
However, Nyanzi has openly come out and criticized the son saying he embarrassed the family for accepting to pose for pictures with a man who recently tried to end his life.
“I have seen annoying pictures of my son sitting with the dedicator whose hands are full of blood stains, he has tried killing me, and your uncle. He partly contributed to the death of your grannies.” Nyanzi noted without proof.
He added that Museveni’s motive of visiting the university was mainly planned to secure a picture of his son since they share a strong bond with Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu(Bobiwine).
Kyagulanyi is currently the leading opposition figure in Uganda. “If you’re indeed my son, come out and apologize to the country or else resign from that position if it’s too hard for you to handle and concentrate on your books.” Nyanzi demanded.
This is not the first time Nyanzi’s son is facing strong criticism from the family. Before his election as the guild president, he lost the party’s nomination to Ismail Basalirwa but decided to stand as an independent candidate.
His family castigated him for pursuing his political dream at university level. However, some analysts have come out and instead criticized Nyanzi for putting pressure on his son.
They have noted that every individual has their own path in life before asking Nyanzi to respect freedom of political dispensation in the country.
