In a bid to promote transparency and efficiency in the education sector, Uganda is encouraging the automation of school management systems. A school management system is a digital platform that streamlines administrative tasks, enhances teaching and learning, and fosters communication among education stakeholders.

According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), “access to information and communication technology (ICT) is crucial for the development of education.” By leveraging ICT, Uganda can revolutionize its education system, making it more inclusive, equitable, and effective.

However, schools in rural Uganda face significant challenges, including limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of experienced teachers. These obstacles hinder the quality of education, leading to poor academic performance and limited opportunities for students.

AkademikIT, an innovative online admission system, is poised to transform the education landscape in Uganda. By automating the teaching and learning process.

According to Stephen Okhutu, the CEO of Bookablehood Ltd – a company that owns AkademikIT, the system can help schools manage student admissions, fees, library resources, exams, report cards, and attendance, among other tasks.

But that’s not all. AkademikIT also empowers parents to take an active role in their child’s education. With the system, parents can track their child’s activities, including their location, homework, exams, and class activities. They can also receive school invoices and monitor fee payments.

“AkademikIT is more than just a school management system – it’s a game-changer for Uganda’s education sector,” said Martin Kiirya, a teacher at Kasawo Secondary School in Mukono. “By automating administrative tasks and enhancing communication, we have been able to improve academic performance, increase transparency, and promote accountability.”

As Uganda continues to embrace automation in education, AkademikIT is leading the charge. With its innovative solution, schools in rural areas can access the same resources and opportunities as their urban counterparts, bridging the gap and paving the way for a brighter future.

According to Dr. George Wateta, Headteacher Kangulumira Public School, AkademikIT has helped the school to increase the school enrollment by automating the admission process.

Justine Basirika, an Education Consultant in Uganda is one of the education professionals advocating for automation in Uganda’s education institutions. She advises school owners to embrace AkademikIT for its rich function abilities.
