Robert Ndugwa Migadde Takes Over Buganda Parliamentary Caucus Leadership

Robert Migadde, MP Buvuma

The Member of Parliament for Buvuma Islands County, Robert Ndugwa Migadde, has been elected chairperson of the 12th Parliament Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, taking over from Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, who lost his parliamentary seat in the recently concluded general elections.

Migadde was elected during a caucus meeting attended by legislators from the Buganda region, where members agreed on a new leadership team to steer the caucus in the 12th Parliament.

His election places him at the helm of one of the most influential regional caucuses in Parliament, which often champions issues affecting Buganda, including land rights, infrastructure development, education, health services, and the welfare of the Kingdom’s people.

Speaking shortly after his election, Migadde pledged to promote unity among members and ensure that the caucus remains focused on advocating for the interests of Buganda and its people.

He also commended his predecessor, Kivumbi, for his leadership and contribution to strengthening the caucus during his tenure in the 11th Parliament.

Kivumbi, who had served as Butambala County MP and a vocal opposition legislator, failed to retain his seat during the recent elections, paving the way for new leadership within the caucus.

The Buganda Parliamentary Caucus brings together legislators from districts that make up the Buganda region and has over the years played a significant role in pushing for government attention to issues affecting the central region.
