Fred Ssimbwa Kaggwa, DF party flag bearer.

Nakifuma County legislator Fred Ssimbwa has promised to build on his track record of community-focused service as he seeks to retain his seat under the Democratic Front (DF) party.

Speaking after his nomination, Ssimbwa reflected on his journey in Parliament, noting that his tenure has been marked by tangible achievements in healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and community development.

Among the highlights, he pointed to the provision of bursaries for school-going children, the empowerment of young people through sports, and the strengthening of village savings groups for both women and youth.

Ssimbwa, who initially entered Parliament on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, parted ways with the party, citing what he described as unfair allocation of tickets by its electoral management committee.

Despite calls from some constituents urging him to return to the “People Power” fold alone, Ssimbwa said he opted to join the Democratic Front after wide consultations with his supporters.

“At DF, the party structure believes in organized leadership and service delivery to the people,” he said, emphasizing his confidence in the new political home.

Even as his current term nears its end, Ssimbwa says he remains committed to lobbying for Nakifuma’s development.

He revealed that he has already secured materials for the construction of 49 new boreholes, in addition to those already established, as part of efforts to improve access to clean water.

Looking ahead, the legislator outlined plans to expand education opportunities through bursaries and enhance economic empowerment programs, particularly for women and youth.

He also noted ongoing efforts to attract investment partnerships, especially from Germany, to support local development initiatives.

With a focus on organized leadership and continuity of service, Ssimbwa believes his decision to run under the Democratic Front offers Nakifuma a renewed opportunity for steady progress rooted in accountability and grassroots engagement.
