Victorious School Kampala is facing strong criticism following the drowning death of one of its students.
Kakama Kaabo Juan, the child of Juan Moses Mpumwire and Juliana Mpumwire, tragically lost his life in this incident.
The school conducts swimming programs designed to teach students how to swim in public spaces.
Security preliminary investigations indicate negligence during the drowning incident citing limited staff to enable student’s monitoring.
According to information shared on social media, the school authorities allowed young children to use a public swimming pool without any safety equipment.
“I am heartbroken over the loss of such a precious young life due to gross negligence by Victorious School. No parent should have to endure this kind of pain. How can you introduce toddlers to a public swimming pool without safety gear?
Ministry of @Educ_SportsUg, it is crucial to implement and enforce rigorous safety regulations for school activities, particularly those involving swimming. This negligence is intolerable and must never be repeated. Rest in peace, little one.”
This incident reportedly took place at the school’s Ntinda campus, causing an uproar among social media users who expressed their outrage at this unfortunate event.
“The extent of corporate negligence in Uganda’s work culture is truly concerning! It’s pervasive across all sectors! Even healthcare!” one social media user emphasized.
“Some of these incidents feel like rituals… they seem to be sacrifices made by school leaders and other prominent figures to whatever deity they worship,” remarked another in a strange perspective.
