Uganda Christian University-UCU for the first time turned history and held the first beauty pageant.
The competition took place on April 9. The first ever public entertainment procession of students elaborating colourful and outdoor performances at the Christian University was won by Charity Bongomin.
Bongomin was crowned Miss UCU after beating 35 other contestants who appeared before the panel of six pageant judges.
One of the judges, Roy Yiga says Bongomin embedded almost every required quality to win the topmost competitions across the globe.
“We found her the fittest for the position. If she gets the required training, the win shall be obvious at several other levels.” Yiga says.
The winner is now set to represent UCU at Miss University Uganda competitions, once crowned again, she will represent the country at Miss University Africa-MUA pageant prepared annually by Visions, Innovations and Concept organization.
MAU started in 2010 with an intention of motivating African beauty, elegance and intelligent queens that would stand to restore and also promote confidence, fearless face, and audible voices against negativity attached to the black skin over the years.
During an interview with Julius Njantyo, Bongomin expressed excitement promising to do better at other levels.
Meanwhile, Rachel Mirembe Sserwadda, the UCU guild president pledged to lead the students fraternity to support Bongomin for better performance in the forthcoming competitions.
