Police in Kagadi are searching for unknown thieves who broke into a home in Namilyango Cell, Kagadi Town Council, on Wednesday night and stole three keys belonging to Centenary Bank’s Kagadi branch. The exact time of the incident is still unclear.
The break-in occurred at the home of Tom Luswata, a banking officer at Centenary Bank Kagadi.
The thieves stole three keys used for the bank’s entrance doors, along with Luswata’s shoes and a jacket.
Luswata discovered the theft on Thursday morning and immediately informed his bank manager, Johnson Galimaka, who reported the matter to the police.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that police quickly inspected the bank premises and found no signs of unauthorised entry. The bank’s facilities were secure.
Hakiza believes the thieves might have targeted Luswata intentionally, possibly knowing he worked at the bank.
The theft caused delays in the bank’s operations as staff struggled to open the doors to resume business.
Police are continuing their search for the suspects and have urged the public to stay alert.
