The main celebration was held on Sunday at Kijaguzo Village, Semuto Trading Center in Nakaseke District.

President Museveni declared 80 years. Pastor Lwandasa says their failure to attend the main celebration at Nakaseke could not stop them from celebrating the president’s birthday.

He explained that celebrating with children instills a patriotic ideology of loving the country and its leaders.

“Leadership comes from above, whoever believes in the authority of God believes so. We therefore have to celebrate what God has enabled for our country including the life of the president.”

Children were excited to celebrate the birthday and cut the cake after singing birthday songs for the president.

In his remarks, Museveni focused on the needs of the people in the Luwero Triangle, a region deeply affected by the NRA’s guerrilla war in the 1980s.

He assured the audience that the government was committed to rehabilitating roads in the region, including the Masulita-Luwero, Kiwoko-Butalangu, and Butalangu-Kapeeka-Nakwaya roads.

Museveni also urged residents to hold their local leaders accountable for ensuring the delivery of government services.

He expressed frustration over the continued presence of land grabbers in the area, despite existing laws prohibiting such actions.

Museveni reminded the residents of the protections provided by the Constitution and the 1998 Land Act which prevent landlords from evicting tenants unjustly.

“Whatever the landlords are doing, they are simply taking advantage of you, but it is all illegal,” he said, adding that he would return soon to address these issues more comprehensively.

The president concluded the event by making two generous donations. He gifted Shs 50 million to the Kijaguzo Catholic Church and presented a brand new bus to St. Dennis Kijaguzo, a local educational institution.

First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni expressed gratitude to God for safeguarding the President through the years. She also paid tribute to the people of Kijaguzo village, specifically acknowledging Mrs. Anne Nakampi, who played a pivotal role during the 1980s war.

Nakampi provided refuge to Museveni, his mother Esteri Kokundeka, and some of the National Resistance Army (NRA) commanders during the struggle against the Milton Obote regime.
