People Power: Nalukoola Declared Kawempe North By-election Winner

The returning officer of Kampala Electoral District, Henry Makabai, has declared Elias Nalukoola Luyimbaazi of the National Unity Platform as the winner of the Kawempe North by-election.

Nalukoola garnered 17,764 votes, followed by the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Faridah Nambi, who got 8,593 votes.

Hanifah Karadi Mulerwa, an independent candidate, got 381 votes, while Engena Stanley, another independent candidate 22 votes.

Other candidates Democratic Party’s Henry Kasacca Mubiru, polled100 votes, Muhammad Luswa Luwemba, 240 votes, and Sadat Mukiibi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), who secured 239 votes.

Ismail Musiitwa of the People’s Progressive Party received 39 votes, Muhamood Mutazindwa, an independent candidate, got 186 votes, and Moses Nsereko, also an independent candidate, received 32 votes.

Makabai, the returning officer, also noted that there were no results for the position of councilor in Kazo-Angola parish which was also vacant.
