Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya has slated Tuesday for the hearing of the first election petition against the victory of Idah Nantaba.
Three applicants are challenging the victory of Kayunga Woman Member of Parliament. These include Jackeline Birungi, Harriet Nakwede of NUP and Rittah Nabadda, a concerned citizen.
The review session of the cases has happened today at Mukono High Court. The motion presented by Nantaba’s lawyer to consolidate the applications has been rejected.
The applicants cite grounds that Nantaba voting and tallying process was characterized by several irregularities including falsification of results.
Justice Mukwaya has slated hearing of the application filed by Kobusingye tomorrow, Nakwedde on August 23 and Nabadda on August 30.
The Kayunga District Returning Officer Rashid Musinguzi declared Idah Nantaba as the winner with 42725 votes, Harriet Nakwedde 37117, Jackeline Birungi 10202.
