Budaka, Uganda
As part of its Global Health initiative, Humanity First Uganda (HFU), recently conducted a highly successful free medical camp at the Budaka Health Center in Budaka District.
HFU is a charitable trust multi-sector organisation, working on humanitarian development projects and providing disaster relief in poorer communities around the country.
This commendable effort provided essential medical services to a staggering total of 1489 individuals over five days.
The medical camp, which was supported by a dedicated team of local medical professionals, also welcomed the expertise of five doctors from the United Kingdom.
These overseas medical professionals generously volunteered their time and skills to cater to the healthcare needs of the underprivileged residents of the region.
The esteemed team of doctors from the UK comprised specialists across various medical fields, including Dr. Abdullah Zakaria (Rheumatologist), Dr. Mazhar Ahmad Warriach (Cardiologist), Dr. Usama Razi (Dental Surgeon), Dr. Bilal Bhatti (General Practitioner), Dr. Maqsood Ahmad Saeed (Obstetrician and Gynecologist), and Dr. Ehsaan Mubarak Ahmad (General Practitioner).
Through this impactful medical camp, HFU provided a wide range of essential services to the community including screenings, specialist consultations (in Rheumatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Cardiology), laboratory tests, dental procedures (such as extractions, restorations, scaling, and root canals), and treatments for various health conditions.
The event received tremendous support and participation from local authorities and healthcare professionals.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Budaka District, Deputy RDC, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Chairperson of the District Local Council (LC V), District Health Officer (DHO), and Dr. Winfred, the Hospital In-Charge, were actively involved in ensuring the success of the medical camp.
Following the conclusion of the medical camp, the visiting doctors from the UK engaged in further collaborative activities. They held meetings with the Obstetrics and Gynecology team of MRRH (Mulago Referral Regional Hospital) and conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session with the staff of Ahmadiyya Hospital.
Additionally, a dental training session was organised at the Humanity First Vocational Institute in Budaka to equip the staff with more practical skills.
Upon returning to Kampala, the UK doctors continued their philanthropic endeavours by donating essential medical equipment. They met with the Head of Makerere Dental School and generously contributed a digital dental X-ray machine.
Furthermore, donations were made to enhance healthcare facilities, including a new CTG machine and spectrums provided to the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Kawempe Referral Hospital.
In a gesture of further collaboration and support, the UK doctors also met with the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Henry Mwebasa, as well as students and administration representatives of Maya Dental School.
The Global Health Medical Camp not only provided crucial healthcare services to underserved communities but also facilitated valuable partnerships and contributions toward improving healthcare infrastructure and education in Uganda.
