Abbas Dholimala, a renowned witch doctor in Bugiri district is in trouble for attempting to sell a firearm.
Dholimala was picked up together with his brother in law, Hakim Magumba by police in conjunction with operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI while trying to sell an AK-47 gun at Shillings 7 million.
The gun had 28 rounds of live ammunition. Magumba is said to have stolen the gun from Iganga Central Police Station on March 5th, 2020.
He reportedly passed on the gun to Dholimala who decided to keep it in his shrine Kagali village in Kapyanga Sub County as they hunt for a buyer at Shillings 10 million in vain.
Upon receiving intelligence on the firearm, security operatives set a trap for the suspects and offered to buy the gun at Shillings 7 million, an offer that was agreeable to Dholimala.
He preferred to meet the prospective buyers at his shrine where he was subsequently arrested.
The Busoga East police spokesperson, James Mubi confirmed the incident saying the suspects are currently locked up at Bugiri central police station pending the conclusion of their investigations.
