Uganda’s Ambassador to Algeria and the Maghreb region John Chrysostom Alintuma Nsambu has reaffirmed his interest to contest for Bukoto East Parliamentary seat amidst speculations of dropping out of the race.
Weeks ago, two sponsored News blogs published a story titled “Enough of you sir! Alintuma Nsambu abandons Bukoto East Comeback amid political denial by furious electorates” and “Embattled Alintuma Nsambu abandons Bukoto East Comeback” respectively.
However, according to him, such was intended to change mind of his thousands of supporters who chose to rally behind a workaholic leader.
The stories also gave a narrative of Nsambu being rejected, booed and chased away by voters at events in favour of other candidates.
However, in a nine-minute voice recording sent on one of the popular WhatsApp groups for Masaka District, Nsambu maintained his position on Bukoto East Parliamentary contest.
He also warned candidates trashing his candidature, yet some are far from eligible to contest for any political position following their criminal backgrounds.
“Such a speculations are orchestrated by one of the unqualified candidates. He has no academic qualifications to contest and has a long criminal record in Bukomansimbi where he is currently serving as a Deputy RDC. This same person was once convicted and arrested for over 9 months. We just choose to set him free but if he chose to take this path of blackmailing me, he is yet to see my reactions.” Nsambu said.

Nsambu added that he is currently serving as the Presidential representative (Ambassador) in five countries including Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Mauritania where he is yet to resign to concentrate on campaigns as soon as they are declared.
“At an appropriate time, I will resign from the Embassy in Algiers to concentrate on campaigns. I have not abandoned the Constituency neither have I been rejected anywhere. ” Amb. Nsambu added.

Nsambu made one of his last presences in Masaka a few days back when he visited Buddu County headquarters and bought Kabaka birthday run kits for his constituents to support the King’s call towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 and as one of the pre-events to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Kabaka.

In the various appearances he has made within the constituency, Nsambu has received heroic welcome in places such as Bukakkata and Buwunga sub counties where he has so far visited.
He has also visited Kasaka, Kaziru, Narozaali Parish, Ssunga, Luvule parish, and Nkuke where he has been asked to stand again.

Nsambu banks on his golden heart of serving his people whenever duty calls, his international connections and political exposure to win the party ticket and the forthcoming elections.
He as well clings on his long-term loyalty to the Catholic church and also the record of service as the state minister for ICT which has left a lifelong legacy in communities up to date.
