His Royal Highness Apollo Isansa Kabumbuli II, the Kamuswaga of Kooki, has called on his subjects to cultivate a culture of hard work and resilience as they usher in the new year.

Speaking during a joint prayer service held on  January 5, 2025 at the Royal Park Gardens in Kooki, the monarch emphasized the importance of passion, diligence, and unity in improving livelihoods across the region.

“The year 2025 is going to be a year of hard work, and I am determined to continue making Kooki a remarkable institution,” Kamuswaga told attendees. “I urge all Bakooki and our neighbours to lead by example, especially for the younger generation.”

The prayers, attended by leaders from different religious denominations, aimed to inspire hope and strengthen togetherness among the people of Kooki. The event attracted hundreds of participants, who expressed optimism about the future following Kamuswaga’s rallying message.

A Legacy of Leadership

Kamuswaga Kabumbuli II has led the Kooki Cultural Institution for more than two decades, having been reinstated as the hereditary ruler in May 2004. His reign has been marked by efforts to strengthen cultural heritage and promote socio-economic development in the region.

During his address, the Kamuswaga also warned against time-wasting activities such as gossip and internal conflicts, stressing the need for unity and cooperation in the community.

“If we want to improve our standards of living, we must focus on meaningful work and avoid pointless hatred amongst ourselves,” he said.

Promoting Education

Among the dignitaries present was Nakawa East MP Eng. Ronald Balimwezo, who was invited by the Kamuswaga as a special guest. The two leaders share a long-standing friendship, having attended the same school in their youth.

Balimwezo underscored the significance of education in driving development, urging parents in Kooki and Rakai District to prioritise the education of their children.

“I am here to celebrate life with His Royal Highness and his people. It is because of education that I became an engineer and a legislator. I encourage parents to embrace education in this digital age,” Balimwezo said.

He commended Kamuswaga’s initiative of providing bursaries to school-going children, noting that this would boost literacy levels and contribute to the region’s progress.

The event concluded with prayers and blessings from the religious leaders, who hailed the Kamuswaga for promoting unity among different faiths and promoting development in Kooki.
