CBS retired reporter Issa Muwembe displays off a certificate of appreciation from the Kamuswaga of Kooki.

Kooki Cultural Leader Apollo Ssansa Kabumbuli II on Wednesday awarded certificates to veteran reporters of the Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) and Radio Buddu for their outstanding dedication to journalism.

Issa Muwembe and Badiru Mujuzi were awarded during the Kamuswaga’s 20th anniversary on the throne held at Ddwaniro village in Ddwaniro Sub-county in Rakai district.

Kamuswaga commended the correspondents for their tactical skills in reporting news impacting society.

“Like several other journalists working within Kooki, Muwembe and Mujuzi could investigate, and report objectively. Expose wrongdoings and injustices within the society, specifically Rakai district.” Kamuswaga noted before awarding them with certificates and brown envelopes.

Issa Muwembe is the long-serving correspondent for the Buganda Kingdom radio in the Rakai district.

He became famous for his distinctive niche in reporting news with a small soothing voice.

He could end his report by mentioning the station and his name as ‘Kulwa CBS, Issa Muwembe e Rakai’ loosely translated as ‘Issa Muwembe, reporting for CBS radio in Rakai.

Badiru Mujuzi who has served for over 15 years at Radio Buddu says it is a great recognition by Obwakamuswaga.

According to him, recognition from such a great institution is a physical symbol that the community appreciates their services as journalists.

“I didn’t at any time think that Kamuswaga would even think of the impact of our stories on the public. May the Lord grant him an everlasting life”, he noted.

In the same way, the Kamuswaga also offered gifts to other journalists working in the area for the tremendous job of informing the public.

Among the journalists is John Bosco Mulyowa of Bukedde TV who received a brand-new camera as a solace for his stolen gadgets two years ago.

“I was attacked by heartless people who attempted to end my life. I was beaten, my camera broken and later hospitalized for close to a month. I’m surprised how Kamuswaga got this information and has decided to replace the camera with a new and better one”, he noted.
