A section of councillors from Goma Division in Mukono Municipality on Monday moved around streets of Seeta trading center chasing after people involved in the collection of street parking fees.

In the process, councillors headed by Godfrey Mubiru and Moses Bukenya were seen manhandling two women also involved in the street parking charging business.

Despite of these women pleading for an ample time to park their belongings and leave the streets in peace, councillors insisted on roughing and cuddling them off the streets.

These (councillors) also confiscated their accountability books claiming that the contract for their boss who deployed them expired four months ago.

They also accused them for operating on illegal streets. “Your boss was only contracted to operate in the Central Division not in Goma and above all his contract expired.” Bukenya noted.

Unfortenately, this website has not yet got a chance to interruct further with the manhandled women but still tracing for their whereabouts after disappearing from the street out of great fear.

The issue of street parking fees in Mukono Municipality if not technically addressed is likely to create chaos in the area.

Last week, Mukono Central Division leaders tasked the Municipal leadership to produce accountability of the money generated as local revenue from street parking for the last one year.

Leaders also demand for the suspension of the contractor, Joseneous investment limited since her contract expired three months back.

The contract was signed on July 24, 2021 allowing the agent to cover the two divisions of Goma and Central.
