Former Kayunga Woman MP and former Minister of State for Lands Idah Nantaba has pledged to work with residents of Mukono North to address land disputes and other community challenges.
Nantaba made the pledge during a thanksgiving and fellowship service at her ongoing residence in Kisowera, Mpoma, where she said her return to the area was not about active politics but reconnecting with residents and supporting them.
She urged residents to be vigilant against land grabbers and warned them about deceptive methods used to acquire property.
She cited a Kayunga land dispute involving a family whose property was allegedly sold after they were manipulated into signing documents. The matter is before court.
Nantaba said she plans to visit surrounding villages and spend about four hours in each community listening to residents and identifying issues requiring government intervention.
She said matters within her capacity would be handled directly, while others would be referred to relevant government institutions.
Local leaders from Kisowera, Kitega and Mpoma Satellite welcomed her and asked for her help in resolving land disputes.
Residents of Kitega also appealed for her intervention in a dispute over a community water source, alleging that some new residents had restricted access to it.
The fellowship also saw more than 40 residents baptised into the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Nantaba congratulated the new converts and pledged to support them in their spiritual growth.
