The body of Juliet Nabunje, 36, was found in her house after she had been reported missing for three days. Her attackers are alleged to have disappeared with her laptop, transaction phone and other valuables.
Detectives have been hunting for the assailants without any clue until a UPDF officer stepped in to aid ongoing investigations.
The officer turned in his son to police after finding him in possession of the deceased’s laptop and the phone. The police arrested two of his alleged accomplices, who are detained at Masaka police station.
Twaha Kasirye, the Regional Police spokesperson, has confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect’s identities are still withheld to avoid jeopardising ongoing investigations since other suspects are still on the run.
Nabunje’s family became concerned after she went missing for three days. Her phone remained switched on, but their repeated calls to her were unanswered.
This raised anxiety, prompting one of the family members to check her home. The relative found the back door of her house open.
She called Nambeja’s phone again and heard it ringing from inside the house. She went in and found her lying dead on her bed. Immediately, she then notified her neighbours and local authorities, who called police to the scene of crime.
According to Kasirye, they took the body for a postmortem as investigations and the hunt for other suspects continue.
