As we commemorate International Labour Day, it’s essential to reflect on the significance of this day to ordinary Ugandans.

Rather than focusing on the usual narratives of progress or failure, I’d like to shine a light on the unsung heroes who labor tirelessly to bring about change in our nation.

Kampala Floods: A Disaster Orchestrated By Leadership Gaps

March 31, 2025

To the patriotic teachers, revolutionary doctors, generational lawyers, and all individuals who refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice, I salute you.

Your efforts to promote freedom, justice, and human rights are truly commendable.

To those who have been abducted, silenced, or killed for speaking out against the status quo, I honor your memory. Your sacrifices will not be in vain.

This International Labour Day serves as a reminder that our labor is not futile.

Despite the risks and challenges, we must continue to push forward, driven by hope and courage.

As Ben Carson aptly puts it, “If we do not risk, we pay the price but if we risk, we reap the rewards.”

Let us draw inspiration from the resilience and determination of those who labor for change.

May we find strength in our collective efforts and continue to strive for a better Uganda for all.

Happy International Labour Day.
