It’s never too early to start dreaming big, and Kyaggwe FC is doing just that!

With months to the 2025 Masaza Cup, Vincent Matovu, the Kyaggwe County Chief (Ssekiboobo), has wasted no time in assembling a 40-member committee that will steer their team to glory.

OPINION: Why the Kabaka Birthday Run’s Theme Matters For Gender Health Equality

March 31, 2025

Well, the selection, made at the Kyaggwe County Headquarters in Mukono, saw old hands and fresh faces come together in what many fans hope will be a winning formula.

Among them, Stephen Sserubula remains at the helm as club chairman, while Mikidad Mulimira keeps his seat warm as team manager.

However, the standout addition? Retired FIFA referee Aisha Ssemambo, a name that’s bound to keep both players and officials on their toes. No room for questionable penalties here!

Ssemambo Calls for Patience

Speaking after her appointment, Ssemambo was quick to lower expectations of instant success, perhaps to avoid pitch-side heart attacks from impatient fans.

“I am fully committed to the team, but we must all work together, technical team, fans, and officials. Football takes time; results won’t happen overnight,” she said.

A wise reminder, especially after last season’s heartbreak, where Kyaggwe FC lost the final to Buddu FC by a single goal.

No More Rookie Mistakes

Sserubula, who endured his football baptism of fire last season, says he’s learned his lessons and is ready for a stronger 2025 campaign.

“Last season, I was new to this football management business, but this year, no more rookie mistakes. Kyaggwe FC must aim for the championship. We are focused and committed!” he declared.

With that kind of confidence, even Kyaggwe’s boda boda riders will be betting on the team!

Wake-Up Call

As any seasoned football fan knows, dreams alone won’t bring trophies—money does. (Just ask teams with rich sponsors!)

County Chief Vincent Matovu didn’t mince his words, urging the committee to find financial backing for the team.

“Football cannot succeed without money. We need to find sponsors. Look at Buddu FC, they secured Plascon as a sponsor. It’s time for Kyaggwe FC to do the same,” Matovu emphasised.

Translation? If you’re a wealthy businessman in Mukono with some spare cash, now’s your chance to become Kyaggwe’s hero.

No Bribes, No Funny Business

With player recruitment on the horizon, Matovu issued a stern warning to the committee, no corruption!

“If we are going to succeed, transparency is key. Those selecting players must do so with integrity,” he said.

The Redemption Starts

With early preparations underway, Kyaggwe FC is determined to avenge last season’s defeat and bring the Masaza Cup home.

Will they finally break their ‘trophy drought’ in 2025, or will they once again be the “almost champions”? One thing is certain, the hustle has just begun!

END.
